Linked Immunosorbent Assays Compared with Microneutralization Assay for Serodiagnosis of Mumps Infection and Determination

چکیده
Total immunoglobulin G (IgG) and IgG subclass reactivities with purified mumps glycoproteins (GP) and nucleoprotein (NP), measured in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs), were compared with titers in a mumps microneqtralization assay (NT). For determination of mumps immunity, the sensitivity of both ELISAs was 100% in comparison with the NT and the specificity was 90%. IgGl was the dominant subclass against the two antigens found in seropositive healthy individuals. In samples from patients with clinical mumps infections and positive mumps IgM, titer rises of total IgG against NP were invariably seen before GP titer rises. Significant but often late titers rises in NT were found in all patients. Changes of IgG1 levels against both antigens followed the changes of total specific IgG. High levels of IgG3 against NP were diagnostic for mumps infection. In parainfluenza infections, titer rises in the mumps ELISAs and NT were found, but mumps IgM, NP IgG3, and the high ratio between the NP and GP titers found in early samples from patients with mumps infection were not observed.

Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for detection of specific IgA antibodies to mumps virus.
A sensitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is described for detection of IgA antibodies to mumps virus. Specific mumps IgA antibodies could be demonstrated in 10 patients with mumps virus infections. No specific mumps IgA antibodies (titres <1/40) were detected by ELISA in 46 control sera (healthy adults; hospitalised patients with various other diseases). The potential application o...
متن کاملEvaluation of Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay, Utilizing Native Antigen B for Serodiagnosis of Human Hydatidosis
Background: Hydatidosis is one of the cosmopolitan parasitic zoonoses caused by the larval stage of Echinococcus granulosus. Diagnosis of hydatidosis is still an unresolved problem. Serological tests using crude antigens for diagnosis of E. granulosus are sensi-tive, however their specificity are not satisfactory. Therefore, WHO recommended spe-cific serological methods using specific antigens,...

The microneutralization assay is commonly used to detect antibodies to influenza virus, and multiple protocols are used worldwide. These protocols differ in the incubation time of the assay as well as in the order of specific steps, and even within protocols there are often further adjustments in individual laboratories. The impact these protocol variations have on influenza serology data is un...
متن کاملApplication of Recombinant Proteins for Serodiagnosis of Visceral Leishmaniasis in Humans and Dogs
Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is a zoonotic disease caused by leishmania species. Dogs are considered to be the main reservoir of VL. A number of methods and antigen-based assays are used for the diagnosis of leishmaniasis. However, currently available methods are mainly based on direct examination of tissues for the presence of parasites, which is highly invasive. A variety of serological tests ...

Objective Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) infection is the most common sexually transmitted disease in the world that can persist and also ascend in the genital tract. This intracellular and silent infection is related to some adverse pregnancy outcomes, such as miscarriage. The aims of this study were to explore the best CT screening tests using blood and vaginal samples and to investigate the corr...
